The hybrid RX lineage began with the RX 400h (chassis XU30) from 2005 to 2008, the first luxury hybrid SUV of its kind. The RX Hybrid is one of the most dependable vehicles in its class, but it is not maintenance-free. The traction battery is long-lived, yet a health check is prudent on higher-mileage cars, and the separate hybrid cooling system deserves attention.
Germany and Europe
US RX hybrids run DOT/SAE headlights, lack a rear fog lamp, use MPH clusters and are set to US navigation and radio bands. Equipment packaging differs from European trims.
Typical approval work includes fitting a rear fog lamp, adjusting or replacing headlights to ECE specification, checking indicator and marker configuration, and correcting the speedometer/odometer data for the German papers.
